He has served as a lead ringside physician for the UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce, K1-Dynamite, HBO, and Showtime boxing and has worked as a professional MMA judge and MMA referee. He was appointed founding Commissioner of the Tennessee Athletic Commission by Governor Phil Bredesen. He has authored articles in Pain Medicine and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has published papers on lumbar interlaminar epidural injections and a novel transforaminal blood patch technique. After practicing in Tennessee for 10 years, Dr. Frauwirth returned to Long Island to join LISS. He enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and spending time with his wife and 5 children.
