SURGICAL PROCEDURES

The surgeons at Long Island Spine Specialists perform many diverse surgical procedures and are constantly adding the most advanced state-of-the-art treatments. Long Island Spine Specialists was the first to pioneer the minimally invasive Endoscopic Disc surgery in New York. The surgeons at LISS perform several minimally invasive procedures, such as XLIFs, TLIFs, decompression/discectomy. As leaders in Spine surgery LISS has trained other surgeons and neurosurgeons these techniques.

Here is a list of the most common procedures performed by Long Island Spine Specialists.

For procedures not listed, please contact our office for more information.

Procedures

Interbody Fusion: This is one method to obtain spinal fusion and is generally used for the treatment of pain caused by degenerative disc disease. Implants of various types are used to hold the vertebra in postion while the fusion occurs. The procedure can be performed through an anterior (from the front) or posterior (from the back) approach. arrow Read More | Download PDF | View Video more info

Kyphoplasty: Patients with osteoporosis are prone to compression fractures in the spine bones, or vertebrae. Patients with this condition are subject to debilitating pain, disturbed sleep, decreased lung and intestinal function, and difficulty completing routine activities. Kyphoplasty restores the size and strength of the fractured vertebra. This realigns the spine and reduces pain.
